- movie Info: Dominic Cobb is the foremost practitioner of the artistic science of extraction, inserting oneself into a subject"s dreams to obtain hidden information without the subject knowing, a concept taught to him by his professor father-in-law, Dr. Stephen Miles. Dom"s associates are Miles" former students, who Dom requires as he has given up being the dream architect for reasons he won"t disclose. Dom"s primary associate, Arthur, believes it has something to do with Dom"s deceased wife, Mal, who often figures prominently and violently in those dreams, or Dom"s want to "go home" (get back to his own reality, which includes two young children). Dom"s work is generally in corporate espionage. As the subjects don"t want the information to get into the wrong hands, the clients have zero tolerance for failure. Dom is also a wanted man, as many of his past subjects have learned what Dom has done to them. One of those subjects, Mr. Saito, offers Dom a job he can"t refuse: to take the concept one step further into inception, namely planting thoughts into the subject"s dreams without them knowing. Inception can fundamentally alter that person as a being. Saito"s target is Robert Michael Fischer, the heir to an energy business empire, which has the potential to rule the world if continued on the current trajectory. Beyond the complex logistics of the dream architecture of the case and some unknowns concerning Fischer, the biggest obstacles in success for the team become worrying about one aspect of inception which Cobb fails to disclose to the other team members prior to the job, and Cobb"s newest associate Ariadne"s belief that Cobb"s own subconscious, especially as it relates to Mal, may be taking over what happens in the dreams

But the idea that you can influence someone to do something by plotting an idea into a basic level of consciousness, is real. I have experienced this. The person can use his intellect to support an idea you have planted on a carefully chosen occasion. Also, the idea must be basic, truly meaningful and without any tracks leading to the planter.
I"m often interested by ideas that goes with a movie and I"m not usually impressed by other sides of it. But the acting was excellent, the graphics also and the storyline quite catching. The cast reveals a certain success, but none of the actors just shows off.
Jit phi khat lôk freeze. I had waited to see this movie on a decent copy DVD and missed it at the cinema. It was a very hyped movie on its release and I like De Caprios movies on the whole including the recent Shutter Island which surely does have some psychological connection with this movie in"playing with our minds. But I liked and followed Shutter Island, I couldn"t really follow "Inception" and as a native Englishman, I am still unsure as to the meaning of the word "Inception" for the context of the film.
The film is only mildly engaging, tries to be intelligent and smart but fails dismally. There is no lack of action but this is "not" Bourne Supremacy" or "Salt" and things happened so haphazardly and quickly in the actions scenes that it completely bored the pants off me when watching the movie because I was trying to follow the story of the film and couldn"t, so I became frustrated.
Leonardo is a great actor and acts well, true enough and I love Ellen Page after Juno and even Peacock - but this film was definitely not for her and Michael Caine had a minor cameo role as Miles the Father figure for Leonardos character. As for Mal played by Marion Couthillard, oh dear, what a shambles! This is one of those films which will be quickly forgotten and barely remembered in Leonardos repertoire. The concept of the film is indeed a good and innovative one and I kept thinking of movies like "The Matrix" while watching it. Why oh why did the director have to "overcook" this movie.
We watch movies to be entertained. Like Iron Man 2, if you like movies with abundant action and little reality, go ahead, watch this movie and rave about it but for me, it is a major disappointment, not with the mainstream acting and the story but with the end result through directing and production. My feeling is that it was shoddy.
Not a movie to review a second time or recommend to friends to see, sorry.
